Description: The dataset is for Land Air Water Aotearoa(LAWA) website. LAWA presents environmental information data for 16 councils across New Zealand and Auckland council is part of providing this information. The schema has been defined by LAWA requirementsThe information is provided to LAWA through a WFS and is a collection from Auckland Council databasesHydstraand Hydrotel, along with some additional data currently stored in internal council CPO folders. Selected monitoring sites are available for Air Quality, Streams, Lakes, Marco, Ground Water Quality, Ground Water Quantity. Air Quality: Data from our monitoring network is used to assess compliance with the National Environmental Standards for Air Quality (NES-AQ).Freshwater (Flow, Rainfall, Streams, Lakes and Macro): The Freshwater Monitoring Programme aims to describe the quantity and quality of the region’s freshwater resources and assess the effects of our use and environmental stressors on them.Timeseries data for rainfall, ground water quantity, flow and air is available via the Auckland Council database Hydrotel, but is not part of this dataset. Groundwater: Groundwater levels and water quality are monitored across the region to determine long term trends and track groundwater availability and the sustainability of water allocation limits.Auckland’s groundwater comes from rainfall that percolates down through soil and underlying rock, forming aquifers. Aquifers in the Auckland region are an important water source for many rural areas, for some industries, and for a small proportion of Auckland’s drinking water.Lineage:All data has been obtained from an extract from various different databases, compiled and edited in a spreadsheet. The original data has been extracted from data collected in the field, analysed and reported through various Auckland Council internal databases including Hydstra which capture information on the site co-ordinate and other information related to the sites. Macro data are maintained within a spreadsheet, and loaded on request into GIS. The monitoring site reference data gets reviewed annually for LAWA.
